PR

Hi All,

Just though I should make a post and let everyone know that we have just received our Canadian permanent residency status.  It's been a longish road to get there but we finally have the cards.  (it's a bit of a relief).

Other than that we have started climbing indoors again, bit of a shock to the arm's which now have no strength at all compared to a year ago.  The sun is starting to shine again, although it's been a rubbish spring so far here, lots of cold weather etc..  it even snowed again last weekend, but only briefly.

New Year New Hobby

To help pass the dark winter nights, Jen and I are taking a night school course in fundamental drawing at the local art college.  I have been pleasantly surprised by the course, and the compositions that I have created.  Up to this point in time, I was under the impression that I did not have an artistic bone in my body.  The class concentrates on different styles of drawings as appose the techniques used to draw, initially I was disappointed when I discovered that they where not going to show me some amazing tricks to on how to draw a straight line without a ruler, I now glad that they are not.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not expecting to be a great artist or anything, but am glad that I can at last look through a sketch book and say, hey I did that.

A white Christmas

Happy new year all

I trust that everyone had a brilliant Christmas time, and Santa delivered on time!  I know that he did for me.

We had a great Christmas holiday, which included cooking our first Turkey, and eating more food that anyone really should in a month let alone a day.
We also headed down to San Francisco and celebrated our marriage again with relatives who couldn't join us in the UK, and after all that went on a 48 hour road trip to Vegas.

I was glad to get back to work so that I could catch up on my sleep!!!!

Winter Lights

Just before Christmas, we got together with a friend and took a drive around the streets to see some of the Christmas light displays.  As you can see from the photographs people go crazy over here for decorating their houses.  To put it into perspective one fella had spent close on 80 hours putting all of his lights up and taken a couple of weeks off work to do it.  Now thats commitment when you only get 3 weeks holiday a year...Most of the people who have gotten down right silly with there displays are collecting donations for local charities, which is a good thing.  It's all a bit of fun, but I'll not be rushing to clean the shop out of lights next year...

Fresh Snow

The winter season is nearly here and we had the first snow fall of the season here at home overnight.  It was only about an inch and it didn't last until the morning, but more snow is predicted later in the week.  I just checked the local mountains and it looks like Grouse mountain has opened already (all be it 3 runs) and Cypress might be opening this Friday..

Bring it on...
